In our data management team, we are developing and maintaining tailored software tools to automate routine tasks of data quality checks for our studies. These applications read data on measurements, perform checks and calculations of performance indicators on these data to then create reports summarizing the results. Only after all checks passed with all statistics in range, a study can continue. It is the reports that constitute the official documents for the continuation of a study and as such are of central interest to our internal customers and us.On the technical side, we are using the R Shiny framework to provide a rich user interface and delegate report creation to LaTeX or MS Word as report engines. The latter approach poses two problems: (i) Both report engines are fat clients that have to be installed and maintained on the user's machine (MiKTeX and MS Word respectively), (ii) One of the applications is making extensive use the LaTeX package "tabu" for table creation. This package is no longer supported and considered broken by the LaTeX community. Report creation frequently fails due to errors in this package that are not going to be fixed in the future.
Goal: Therefore, we want to streamline our report creation to plain HTML and CSS. We do have report templates that have to be adapted, too. An ideal solution would have these templates in HTML format, then put in the dynamic content, leaving all rendering to a browser.

a strong background in reporting in general
proven expertise in rendering high-quality technical and mathematical output
intimate knowledge of HTML and CSS
decent programming skills in the R language
excellent communication skills, providing and accepting ideas that may help us to build a stable reporting platform
