Signal Processing Engineer

Start: ASAP
Location: Remote
LOA: 6 months
Language: English

Tasks:

Signal Processing expertise
Matlab and Simulink (MUST)
Algorithm development
Experience with MEMS components – nice to have

At System level
• Analyze and understand closed loop systems, and verifying related performances in term of stability, noise and distortion
• Lead feasibility study for the architecture of new integrated sensors, partitioning the system between HW/SW and digital/analog and defining and allocating the requirements to the subsystems with special focus signal processing algorithms and modules
• Prepare design documentation (high level block diagrams, architecture specifications, etc.) and reports
• Develop behavioral models for integrated system architecture (Mechanical + Analog + Digital Data Path) starting from predefined specifications, new or existent design, under supervision of the Technical Lead. The preferred simulation languages may be Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, System Verilog or Cadence, real and fixed point
• Interface to Test and validation teams, prepare test documentation and guide Test and Validation teams with bring up of the Devices.
• Participate in full life cycle of productization of sensors from concept to production ramp-up. Acquire learnings from productization to next generation solutions
At block level
• Analyze and understand specifications, models and performances of MEMS components. Ability to translate them into models by means of transfer functions/state space models/finite difference equations. Ability to get a clear understanding and to provide consistent modeling of complex interactions at MEMS/Electronic interfaces
• Analyze and understand specifications and performances of analog and digital filters, and translate them into models of IIR, FIR, analog filters, by means of transfer functions/state space models/finite difference equations and generating the related models to provide specifications to digital/mixed signals engineers. Special focus to multi-rate signal processing chains and components: decimation, interpolation, down-sampling, up-sampling, polyphase filters, etc.
• Analyze and understand specifications and performances of calibration of sensors, to generate the related models.
• Analyze and understand specifications and performances for ADC & DAC and other Mixed Signals modules (PLL/DPLL etc) and translate them into stand-alone models to be integrated into wider system level models.
• Measure system level performances in lab: signal to noise ratio, harmonic distortion, sensitivity, etc. Ability to get a clear understanding of device performances by test data analysis
• Interface to the MEMS engineers, digital engineers, analog/mixed-signal engineers and software engineers
• Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time-to-time
Requirements
• The ideal candidate will have a Master+7 yrs or PhD+4 yrs of experience bringing complex systems to market.
• Specialization in one or more areas of Signal Processing, Communication, Automation, Audio, preferably with focus on System Architecture
• Strong background of Control System Theory, Digital Signal Processing, and Signal Theory, AMS or MEMS.
• Matlab/Simulink experience preferred; Python, System Verilog is a plus.
• Knowledge of SW/HW partitioning, FPGA technologies and related workflows.
• Ability to work with Analog, Digital, Software, MEMS, Test and Product teams across global boundaries
