Project description:
The goal is to support our customers business in its transformation into a flexible, digital and sustainable future by setting up an Agile delivery organization and defining Agile processes for implementation, support and their governance. For this project we are looking for an Agile Coach who can consult and guide us with best practices in building up an Agile project organization and subsequent Line Organization for the digital transformation introducing Agile methodologies for implementation and helping us put them into practice. Therefore, the services mentioned in the task description will be provided within the framework of an agile development method.
Background to the assignment:
Transform the Short-term trading business into a flexible, digital and sustainable future.
This includes, among others, the set-up of a new organization including the development of an Agile mindset and behaviour of the members together with implementation, operation and governance approaches and practices to encourage innovative collaboration and strengthen the innovation process.
For strategic reasons, customer has decided to apply Agile methodology in its digital transformation and contract an Agile Couch from external providers for the project, as it does not have suitable resources and expertise for this internally. Because of this, the consultant holds a unique position and provides significantly different services than the internal staff.
Detailed description of the agile method/services:
The services shall be provided within the framework of an agile development method. The concrete activities required in each case to implement the services commissioned shall be agreed iteratively between the parties within the framework of sprint meetings and implemented by the consultant within the respective sprints following the sprint meetings. Prior to each sprint meeting, the consultant shall independently check, on the basis of its professional expertise, which individual services are reasonable and feasible within the scope of the assignment in the respective sprint. The sprints each have a duration of ~3-4 weeks, so that the sprint meetings take place at intervals of 1-4 weeks. Within the individual sprints, the contracting parties shall coordinate the respective requirements for the services to be provided in daily meetings in order to achieve that the Agile project organization and its members fully understood, learnt and actually are applying Agile practices in their daily work. The requirements for the services to be provided are assessed by the consultant on the basis of its own technical assessment. After completion of a Sprint, the Parties shall conduct a ?Sprint Review'' in which the consultant reports on the feasibility and status of the services performed by it in the previous Sprint and makes a recommendation on how to proceed with regard to the services that proved to be unfeasible in the respective Sprint. All of the meetings and exchanges described above shall take place exclusively in the presence of a central contact person named by customer, who shall coordinate the project on our internal side. The organisation and scheduling of the meetings described above in which the consultant is involved shall be organised.
Task description:
- Inspire the project organization/team with agile methods by professionally coaching project organization/team members at different levels based on own expertise and experience, to improve their capabilities in agile work processes
- to understand at what point agile is useful for the business
- (how) to use scrum as a flexible and communication-driven method by placing agile trends, terms, and topics in the specific business context
- to connect existing transformation initiatives and agile frameworks
- to identify synergies between traditional project management and agile methodologies
- (how) to engage project members in a targeted way and (how) to facilitate and manage conflicts
- (how) to structure agile transformations
- (how) to scale agility by supporting the organization to learn how to plan and coordinate multiple increments/implementations across various workstreams / squads
- (how and when) to use collaboration tools, specifically MS Teams together with Azure DevOps and/or JIRA
- Steer the project team to achieve the project goals
- Professionally steer the project organization by changes and dissolve blockages as a coach
- Provide professional consultancy to the project team in mastering tools & processes associated with adopted agile method
- Demonstrate, professionally consult and guide the project organization/team members how collaboration tools, specifically MS Teams together with Azure DevOps, can enable a productive and effective SCRUM team
