The Client is a public sector institution based in Nuremberg, Germany.The Project
They have an unstable document management system. To increase stability the systems databases shall be migrated. As part of the migration the systems features, UX and overall value proposition shall also be improved; new features and functionality will be planned and implemented throughout the process.
The project is handled by a 18-22 people engineering unit composed of client internal employees and contractors from multiple vendors.
The hands-on coding part of the project is planned to start in September, October and shall last for around 2 years. It can possibly done faster, but since its public sector the estimates are conservative.
The first contract period would be until the end of the year with extensions following after that.

Your Job
You will be working closely with a management consultancy that is responsible for the overall value creation on the project. They would love you to be their eyes and ears on the ground as well as help them identify blockers and opportunities on the technical level. You will be hands-on coding.
Your Profile
Must-have
You are an expert in Java
You have experience in corporate contexts and exhibit highly professional ways of working
You have been working with Agile SCRUM in large teams
You have been making software architecture decisions in the past
You have experience with database migration
You speak German fluently (You can have technical discussions in German, native level is not expected)
You have been working with Kafka
You have experience with RDBMS (Postgres, Oracle for legacy code, S3) and know your way around monitoring & alterting
You are used to setting up your own environments and deployments on Kubernetes clusters
You are a fan and practitioner of TDD and pair programming
Nice-to-have:
You are willing to travel to Nuremberg from time to time or even work on-site from there (expenses ideally included in your day rate)
You have experience with Akka.
