We have a client who is providing customer-centric, seamless payment solutions for fashion and lifestyle merchants. While offering new and improved payment services for both merchants and customers, they aim to become the preferred payment option for the fashion world, online and offline, increasing the breadth (i.e. distinct types of transactions) and depth (e.g. diversity of payment options) of our transactional capabilities. The clients Payment's Design team are seeking a Senior Product Design Freelancer with strong exploratory User Research skills for the clients “Try Before You Buy” experience. Experience in Checkout for Ecommerce or Online Payment is required.
The “try before you buy” experience (Deferred Payment) enhances customers’ confidence, ease and control. It is anticipated this becoming standard best practice in the near future. The Deferred Payment offering comes in the form of invoice, is available in 10 countries and is the clients most popular payment method. Deferred payment as a “Try First, Pay Later” with Credit Card was launched in France, Denmark and Italy and is highly popular and successful in the first two markets.
However there are still many questions as to how customers' habits and different cultural differences affect their favourite payment method’s choice to pay later so therefore this project is focused on product and strategy design. It is not about marketing, landing pages, UI/visual/graphic design.
You will be:
• Supporting on three parallel work streams of “Deferred Payments”
• Main focus: How Might Iterate our current product for Try First, Pay Later product in a convenient,
trustworthy and understandable way to our customers?
• Other contributions (support to another product designer on the project):
o How Might We Iterate our current Invoice payment method in a convenient, trustworthy and
understandable way to our customers?
o How Might We define the next step for our Deferred Payment products portfolio when it comes to
understanding our customer needs and mapping opportunities?
• Variety of product design challenges, for app and web
• Support on Usability Tests (Short Term) and Qualitative User Research (Long Term)
• Journey mapping
• High level and detailed mock-ups, interaction flows and prototypes to communicate interaction and design
ideas and user-test potential solutions
• Work with different Product Managers and Engineers throughout all stages of the product development cycle
• Develop and maintain detailed product documentation and design decisions
• Understand and follow the clients Fashion store design principles and design with consistency of components
and patterns in mind
Ideal Skills/Attributes:
• Qual User Research Experience (Explorative, Concept Validation and Usability Tests)
• Information architecture
• Experience on Marketplaces / E-commerce
• Experience working in a collaborative environment and working directly with product managers and
developers for the implementation of designs
• Innovative mindset
• Experience with high fidelity prototypes following defined Design Systems
• Good stakeholder management skills and very good command of English
Nice if you have some experience in the following:
• Pay Later products (e.g. Invoice, Pay Later)
• Payment Method experiences (e.g. Credit Card, Bank Transfer)
• Conducting Workshops to set Stakeholders expectations#
• Working with localization
• Return of products
• Tooling: prototyping with Figma, Google Apps (Mail, Calendar, Docs etc.), Mural
