Job Title: CAD/Design Engineer–Automotive Seating
Location: Munich, Germany
Hiring mode- Freelancing Contract
Duration- 1 year
Daily Rate- As per market standards
Start Date- Mid Feb 2018
Language- English, German will be an added advantage
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Engineer, work on the Seating mechanical subsystems design
• Take responsibility for the design of Seating components - Plastics or structures or foam, within a cross functional team to collectively deliver for the vehicle specification targets
• Component and system level packaging and concept studies including styling feasibility
• Work in collaboration with the Project Engineers to identify and specify design activity required
• Component and system design and detailing from prototype to production to internal and external design standards
• Check the content of designs for release against the specification, the data integrity of CAD geometry and resolution of digital build concerns prior to sign-off
• Be the point of contact for the rest of the design community for day-to-day engineering matters
• Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, cost and weight
• Communicate progress and critical issues to the Project Leader, Project Engineers and the Liaison Engineer
• DFMEA – Interpret DFMEA requirements for significant and critical characteristics and ensure the design satisfies these
• Engineering Release – Meet all defined engineering release dates and address the Engineering change requests
• DFM – Design for Manufacture is a requirement forthe Design Engineer role. Must have a demonstrable track record of working within a Design Team in harmony with suppliers
Desired Skills and Experience
• Excellent CATIA V5 2D &3D skills. Other s/w like UG NX-9.0 experience would also be considered.
• 5+ years of previous experience of Design activities at OEM/Tier-1s - Automotive preferred, any other seating experience in other domains would also be considered
• A strong track record of delivering design to timing, weight and cost targets
• Supplier liaison, comfortable with understanding and implementing DFM requirements within the project scope
• Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree required and above preferred
• German language proficiency is preferred apart from English speaking skills
