Civil Works Engineer/Bauingenieur
Scope and Responsibilities:
Project Scope
- Provide an optimized SE (Site Engineering) process and BOQ, standardize and simplify the site design procedure, and get approval from customer, for minimize the cost of SE, and participate in the negotiation during the bidding of SE subcontract
- Review and approve proposals for towers, monopoles, antenna mounting structures, optimize the site design to simplify and reduce the cost of civil work construction prior to submission to customer for approval
- Check site specific structural design analysis submitted by subcontractors base on the latest code requirements ensuring stability of the structure, also to avoid the redundant structural design
- Assess structural design consultants for their capability and capacity to provide technical evaluation and calculations, drawings and other aspects of the project to control and minimize the additional tower static calculation
- Collect and estimate the site design to provide the actual civil work construction cost of the typical site for evaluating the and supporting negotiation during the bidding of the subcontract
- Review and approve the design and material list(BOQ, Bill of the Quantity) of the tower reinforcement, and minimize the construction cost of the tower reinforcement
- Supervise and support the site design engineer in region
- Conduct the site inspection and field survey as a structural estimator
- Meet with the customers and partner for clarification and optimized site solution
General Responsibility
- Provide expert level advice and consultancy to Huawei Project Teams in the field of site design
- Ensure that site designs, construction and electrical standards and specifications are agreed with the customer prior to the start of the project
- Understand local conditions and tailor site designs to best match the local environment
- Guarantee minimal design to provide value engineered designs
- Review site specific designs as produced by the Design Consultancy and make recommendations to manage cost and simplify construction
- Provide hands on training for Huawei staff who will be attending Technical Site Surveys (TSS), reviewing drawings and approving designs
- Review and approve alternative materials proposed by suppliers and customers
- Assist the Design Consultancy to produce non standard solutions as required
- Ensure the site designs are in line with customers' requirement and standard of the operation and maintenance
- Ensure that site designs are compliant with local Health and Safety requirements
- Provide & review & negotiate the order proposal on partner and customer sides to satisfy project profit.
Profile and Requirement
- A qualified engineer with a minimum Bachelor degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Extensive experience in site design of the telecoms industry, gained working for a Design Consultancy, Equipment Vendor or Operator
- Familiar with the civil work program such like SAP 2000, ETABS, StaadPro, MSTower, PCA, or other software.
- Proficient in survey tools such as AUTOCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Familiar with the industrial standard of the steel structure in the telecoms industry such like DIN (Deutsche Industrie Normen) =(German Industry Standard)and ENS (Europaeische Norms)=(Europe Standard)
- An excellent understanding of towers, mon-pole and all antenna support structures
- Extensive experience in concrete or reinforced concrete of tower foundation, familiar with electrical design according to the local standard
- An in depth understanding of value engineering and the principles of cost effective designs
- A flair to produce non standard designs to meet environmentally driven requirements
- Experience of ensuring quality through design and designing within Health and Safety guidelines
- Fluent in German and English
