Position DetailsThe systems engineer will be based in Ulm and he will be part of the System Engineering and Test Team. As such he identifies novel technologies and solutions concepts for wireless coverage and capacity systems in close cooperation with Business Development, Product Management, R&D and Network Planning, defines cost optimized architectural HW and SW solutions, supports make or buy decisions as well as use and test case definitions and requirements engineering.
Job Description
• Determine the requirements and use cases for new products in close cooperation with internal and external customers and supporting the release management.
• Develop solution concepts for wireless coverage and capacity systems including distributed antenna systems (Smart DAS), radio remote solutions, small cells, backhaul/fronthaul elements and antenna integrated architectures.
• Defining use cases and supporting the requirements engineering and management of individual products or product releases.
• Simulating and analyzing architectural solutions and supporting trouble shooting on system level.
• Participation in development design reviews.
• Write technical documentation and present system concepts and architecture to internal and external customers.
• Supporting the System Verification & Test in defining acceptance test cases and review and analyze system test results.
Expertise Required
• Bachelor or Master or PhD degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or other related field such as Telecommunications.
• 5+ years of professional experience of hardware and/or software development with a system focus.
• Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical abilities.
• Experience in setting high level design objectives.
• Fundamental knowledge of mobile communications systems with focus on RF principles and digital signal processing.
• Very good knowledge of mobile communications standards including GSM, WCDMA and LTE (Layer 1 and 2 as well as basic RAN architectures).
• Background or experience in system operations is a plus.
• Demonstrated teamwork and cross-cultural awareness and a desire to gain a broad spectrum of knowledge while maintaining the ability to dig into deep technical challenges.
• Languages: English is required and knowledge of other languages such as German is a plus.
