Required Skills:- Familiarity with Unix and Linux systems
o If no Unix experience is available a very strong Linux background might be sufficient
o Knowledgeable about init scripts (system V)
- Basic understanding of operating systems (e.g. memory and process management)
- Shell Scripting
o Bash, Bourne Shell
(Knowing Bourne Shell and BASH are not the same is important)
- Perl (reading and understanding existing scripts)
- Experience with Apache HTTPD
o Virtual hosts
o SSL Termination
o ifDefine directives
o Apache module systems
- Understanding of Web ecosystem
o Detailed knowledge of HTTP protocol
o Should have basic understanding of web security (csp headers, hsts, ...)
- Understanding of SSL ecosystem
o Creating CSR
o Creating CAs
o Signing certificates
o Generating keys
o Verifying key/cert validity
o Understanding of enterprise IT processes
o Change requests, change approval boards, ..
o Requests, Changes, Incident distinction
Regular Tasks:
- Migration Apache configurations to newer versions
o Includes analysis of existing setups for documentation purposes
o Requires knowledge of different Apache process models (worker/prefork)
- Communication with customers to coordinate changes
o Advising customer not just on the specific issue but everything related to it
o Planning changes over multiple environments
o Assisting the customer on best practices
- Building RPM packages for RHEL6 and RHEL7 systems
o Process uses proprietary scripts. Knowledge of common RPM packaging allows to get acquainted with the process within a short time
- Building packages for Solaris systems
o Process uses proprietary scripts.
- Documentation of new and existing setups in a (Media)Wiki
Rare Tasks:
- Building packages for AIX systems
o Process uses proprietary scripts. Detailed documentation is available.
- Capturing and analyzing network traffic dumps (tcpdump)
