Role – Technical Test Architect – SDN & Data Networking

Job Description
In the role of Technical Test Architect, you will act as the validation and quality assurance expert and review the functionality of new SDN/NFV based platforms for leading Cable Service Providers. You will interact with Engineering and OEM vendors to understand the new architectures and platforms and define test and certification strategy. You will also be required to design an optimal test environment to simulate real-time scenarios. Responsibilities
• You will be responsible for end to end testing for the new SDN based platforms in country
• You will be required to interact with customer engineering and OEM vendor team to come up with the required test strategy to optimally test the platform and all required functionalities
• Ensure all deliverables are tracked, reported and delivered to time, cost and quality.
• Proactive approach to day to day work steam activities, testing and team’s delivery requirements.
• Trouble shooting and quickly resolving any lab/test environment issues
• Participate in the review of HLA, HLD and provide inputs to prepare LLD
• Maintain an effective and proactive interface to other Engineering and Technology teams, business functions, work streams stakeholders, vendors and 3rd parties; providing technical expertise as required in the delivery of change / test roadmaps.
• As an SDN ‘subject matter expert’ the candidate should define, improve and manage well-co-ordinated test processes / test scope / lab improvements across the team for SDN based platforms and products
• Regularly review the best practices adopted across the industry and make corrections to test strategies
• Constantly in touch with the open source and the industry development in this area
• Define, develop and analyse complex test plans, schedules and reports, providing options and recommendations as appropriate.
• Prepare test automation strategies based on maximum cost benefits
• Should be able to act as a product owner in agile teams
• Should be aware and be able to setup Dev-ops pipeline
• Product and System Integration testing for integrating other business products to SDN platform
• Regular interactions with OSS/BSS teams for integration testing
Qualifications Basic:
Basics
• Degree or equivalent qualification in network engineering or associated discipline.
• Demonstrable employment in an engineering /testing role with a Service Provider, Telecoms Equipment Supplier / Vendor or in a Technology Consultancy (minimum: 10yrs)
• Experience in Test planning and test methodologies
• Strong technical knowledge of operational requirements within an Internet provider environment.
• Demonstrable knowledge in MPLS, VPN technologies, Tunnelling technologies, IP Sec, Routing Protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF at minimum), IPv6, VLAN and VxLAN
• Basic understanding of SDN, Network Virtualization, Open Flow and NETCONF
• Demonstrable knowledge on at least one of the access technologies
• Knowledge and familiarity of at least one network testing framework and traffic generator
• Ability to travel and work across Europe
• Good oral and written communication skills
Preferred
• In-depth knowledge of various SDN controllers and use cases (especially SD-WAN)
• Any expertise with DOCSIS and HFC networks would be an added advantage
• Expertise in MEF
• Excellent knowledge of NFV and have worked with at least one VNF in the past
• Demonstrable knowledge on testing REST based systems
• Good understanding of test automation with experience in REST API based automation
• Ability to communicate in German would be an added advantage
• Regular contributor/up to date information of all major SDN/NFV forums would be added advantage (eg: OPNFV)
• Good Commercial and Business awareness.
• Ability to produce professional and detailed technical test exit reports.
• Ability to prepare and present formal presentations to Senior Management on technical and test solutions / issues.
• Ability to work with geo-separated teams effectively and with clarity
• Keen Analytical and Interpersonal skills
