The end custormer sells blood glucose meters to end customers. The USP of one of those glucometers, called FreeStyle Libre Flash, is that for measuring your glucose level you do not need to prick yourself anymore but a simple adhesive sensor is used. The product is available in many countries and in some countries through a Magento web shop created by our client. However for most of those shops the customers have to pay the complete amount for the device themselves. Along with the device, a certain amount of sensor is supplied, for example 26 sensors a year split in four deliveries.
The primary business case for the Reimbursement Hub (RH) is to enable the Magento shops in the different countries to offer the purchase of the glucometer via the local health insurance system / prescription. For most of the customer this means they can purchase the device free of charge or for a small co-payment. This additional payment method should boost sales in all connected countries. The challenge for offering this payment method is that in all countries individual workflows and reimbursement logics exist for the local health insurances. The overall idea therefore is to create a reimbursement hub that connects to the different reimbursement service providers (RSPs) in the different countries who themselves are connected to the local health insurances. The Reimbursement Hub serves as an enterprise service bus (ESB) between the local Reimbursement Service Providers (RSPs), the web shop platform Magento and the backend i.e. order management system (OMS). Besides the classic task of message brokerage, the Reimbursement Hub should include all business rules and validations as well as subscription logic to free up the Magento Shop and OMS from handling prescriptions and requirements of local health systems.
