Proteus Europe is currently searching for a C / C++ Embedded software Engineer for one of our international automotive clients based in Germany. This is an excellent opportunity to join a corporation that is focused on making you a valuable part of their team and to provide you with plenty of technical challenges for you to get your teeth stuck into.As a software engineer you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects, including research & development, technology demonstrations and software for series production vehicles across a number of technology areas. The lifecycle and processes used to develop the software (generally embedded software, running on a controller within a vehicle) will vary depending on the project requirements
Responsibilities:
- taking responsibility for definition of software requirements specifications, including leading discussions with clients
- design and implementation of code and documentation
- Investigation and resolution of issues reported by users of the software
- using a range of test methods and tools including unit/module testing, debuggers, communication bus analysers and system testing
- supporting prototype builds, software integration testing and calibration
- assisting with the process of developing technical proposals in response to the needs of clients
- Technical leadership of teams, including task management, status monitoring and reporting of progress
Your background / current experience:
- have a degree (grade 1 or 2) in an engineering or software related discipline
- be astute and quick thinking with an inquiring mind
- show evidence of a strong work ethic
- have good interpersonal & communication skills
- be able to prioritise effectively and take a logical & methodical approach to problem solving
- be able to work well both as part of a team and individually
- be flexible on work location and prepared to travel within Germany as well as internationally on short assignments
- have the ability to work either alone or as part of an engineering team (including technical leadership)
- be fluent in English
- have experience developing software in C or C++ in an embedded context
- have experience of rigorous application of change management and version control
Knowledge / Experience:
- Developing software for series production
- Involvement in developing more than one vehicle function
- Model based development using MatLab / Simulink / Stateflow
- Developing software within the AUTOSAR architecture
- Application of functional safety standards such as IEC 61508 or ISO 26262
- Experience in the use of scripting languages such as Python
