Senior Software Development Engineer - Java, Python, Hadoop, Big Data
English language speaking business working environment
Activities:
Supporting a handover which will involve the de-briefing of an outgoing colleague and accurate documentation of all aspects of what will be a big chunk of data ideally using MapReduce
Previous experience in a similar role will be of advantage
Preferred skills, ie mixture of:
Knowledge and experience in Big Data technologies (Hadoop, MapR, HBAse)
Knowledge and experience in programming languages (Java, etc)
Knowledge and experience in Scripting languages (PHP, JavaScript, Python, etc)
Knowledge and experience in systems, data stores and IT operations
Flexibility/adaptability to use and adapt a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
Personal Skills:
- Accountability and proactivity
- Experience with Change and Release management
- Experience in all phases of the software development life cycle
- Experienced in working in Cross Team projects
- Analytical and conceptual thinking
- Flexibility and good communication skills
- Good presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to peers and management
- Proficiency in English essential, both written and spoken
