* Controlling the Safety Engineers in the project
* Planning of all safety related phases, activities, milestones, resources for the project, integrated with the project plan and organizational safety planning
* Planning and coordination of reviews, audits and assessments concerning functional safety
* Coordination of development of all work products specific to functional safety, e.g. hazard and risk assessment, safety plan, development interface agreements, functional safety concept, technical safety concept, FTAs, FMEDAs, criticality analyses, other safety analyses, validation report, functional safety assessment report, safety case
* Capturing and tracking FMEA/FTA -related issues in the Issue Management System (IMS FMEA LOPs)
* Interface to the customer's and to the supplier's safety managers for the project
* Maintenance of the safety case
* Functional safety training and support for the Project Manager and the engineers
* Reporting about functional safety to the Project Manager and to the Functional Safety Manager
* Escalation to the Project Manager and the Functional Safety Manager in cases of violations of safety of the product
* Maintaining the traceability between FMEA measures and FMEA LOPs
* Demanding and coordinating FMEA results with Suppliers
* Managing and Tracking FMEA measures by periodically checking their status in the APIS data file
* Escalating lagging FMEA measures to Project Manager and, ultimately, to the line management
* FTA Fault Tree Analysis
* FMEDA oversight (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Coverage Analysis)
