Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Freelance Java Developer to join our team on a 6-month rolling contract. The successful candidate will work closely with our energy sector clients, providing expert consultancy and developing robust backend solutions using the latest Java technologies. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency and consulting expertise to effectively address client needs and deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Design, develop, and implement scalable Java-based applications tailored to the energy sector.
Provide technical consultancy, offering insights and recommendations to optimize client systems and processes.
Integrate microservices and develop APIs to enhance system functionality and interoperability.
Utilize cloud-native solutions and container technologies to deploy and manage applications.
Develop and execute automated tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
Analyze and debug complex issues, providing timely resolutions.
Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Document technical designs, processes, and solutions for both clients and internal teams.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Java development, with a strong background in consulting roles within the energy sector.
Technical Skills:
Java: Proficiency in Java 11 or higher.
Frameworks: Experience with Spring Boot and Quarkus.
Microservices: Strong understanding of microservices architecture and implementation.
Cloud Platforms: Experience with AWS or other cloud providers.
Containerization: Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
Messaging Systems: Knowledge of Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures.
Frontend Development: Familiarity with Angular for developing user interfaces.
Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools.
Consulting Skills: Proven ability to engage with clients, gather requirements, and deliver tailored solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
Agile Methodologies: Experience working in agile environments and familiarity with Scrum practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with event-driven distributed architectures.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Knowledge of security best practices in software development.
Prior experience working with energy sector clients and understanding of industry-specific challenges.
