Job Title: Senior Java Developer – Microservices Architecture (Insurance Sector)
Location: Remote (Germany-based)
Contract Type: Freelance
Duration: 6 months (Starting May)
Language Requirements: Native or C2-level German
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a remote freelance project within the insurance sector. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing microservices architectures for mission-critical systems. The successful candidate will have extensive experience building distributed systems, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability within a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable microservices for insurance applications.
- Implement and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven systems.
- Collaborate with architects and DevOps teams to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and effective service monitoring.
- Use best practices for microservices architecture (including hexagonal architecture).
- Ensure services meet security, performance, and compliance requirements within the insurance sector.
- Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing services in production environments.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
- Proven experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
- Experience in the insurance industry is essential – understanding of insurance processes, data structures, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong experience with:
? **Java 11+**
? **Spring Boot / Spring Cloud**
? **Docker & Kubernetes**
? **Kafka or RabbitMQ**
? **REST APIs / OpenAPI**
? **PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB**
? **CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)**
? **Monitoring (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK)**
? **OAuth2 / OpenID Connect**
? **Hexagonal Architecture / Clean Architecture**
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
- Fluent German (C2) is required, as you will collaborate with German-speaking teams and clients.
