Hardware Redesign (Aviation Application)
length: 8 weeks
Location: Villingen-Schwenningen
Start: May 11th
We are supporting a short-term engineering project focused on the redesign and optimisation of an existing electronic hardware platform for an aviation-related application, operating under DO-160 environmental and EMC constraints.
Scope of Work
The core objective is to analyse, stabilise and redesign a critical analog power subsystem, including:
- Redesign of an existing DC/DC power supply (28V 12V)
- Evaluation and optimisation of:
- EMI/EMC behaviour
- filtering concepts
- load switching architecture
- Identification and resolution of current design weaknesses (noise, instability, thermal behaviour)
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse existing schematics and PCB layout
- Perform root-cause analysis of EMC-related issues
- Redesign critical sections of the hardware (schematic + layout in Altium)
- Support pre-compliance EMC validation and iterative improvements
- Work closely with system stakeholders to ensure robust and manufacturable design
Technical Environment
- Altium Designer (schematic & PCB)
- Analog & mixed-signal hardware design
- Power electronics (DC/DC converters, filtering, load switching)
- EMC/EMI mitigation and testing
- Aviation / harsh environment considerations (DO-160 context)
Project Setup
- Duration: ~8 weeks (initial phase)
- Focus: hands-on engineering and rapid problem resolution
- Working mode: 50/50 onsite presence (hybrid setup)
