Beschreibung
Our client requires an Interim Lead Digital Architect (IoT & Azure) to ensure architectural leadership for the global IoT Platform during a temporary absence in the internal team. The architect will secure continuity, technical decision quality, and alignment across Device, Cloud, Web, Mobile, and Backend systems.
Project Parameters
Start: As soon as possible
Duration: Until 15 December 2026
Workload: Full-time (100%)
Location: 3 days/week on-site in Düsseldorf + up to 1 week/month travel to global project sites if necessary

Responsibilities
- Lead the Digital Architecture function for the global IoT Platform
- Evaluate and translate requirements into scalable and modular target architectures
- Consolidate inputs from Product, Development, Security, Data, and Field into architecture artefacts
- Own and execute architectural governance for IoT Platform topics
- Ensure a consistent end-to-end architecture across Device, Cloud, Web, Mobile, and Backend
- Provide architectural guidance for MAX, DES, IoT, and related roadmap items
- Prepare, facilitate, document, and drive actions for the System Architecture Council
- Ensure adherence to architectural principles ("inner loop -> development / outer loop -> monitoring")
- Conduct technical reviews, identify architectural risks, and propose mitigation measures
- Support cloud governance activities, PMP technical evaluations, and penetration tests
- Maintain architectural documentation, reusable patterns, and standards
- Provide architectural guidance for strategic initiatives (Fusion, Building Ethernet, MAX Monitoring, KSA extensions)
- Support platform stability and DevOps/DataOps alignment
Ways of Working & Collaboration
- Close collaboration with Digital Products, A&T Architects, Development teams, Data & Insights, and Security
- Weekly alignment with the Head of Digital Architecture & Technology
- Participation in technical reviews, architecture councils, roadmap sessions, and cross-functional workshops
Required Skills & Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- Several years of experience as Lead Architect or Senior Architect in complex IoT environments
- Strong end-to-end IoT architecture expertise (Device -> Cloud -> Application Stack)
- Deep expertise in Azure IoT services, particularly:
- IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Service (DPS)
- Azure Functions, Event Grid, MQTT
- Azure SQL, Storage, App Services
- API Management
- Strong understanding of modularization, domain boundaries, and API patterns
- Proven ability to convert requirements into structured architecture outputs
- Experience in large-scale enterprise environments
- Strong technical review and architectural governance capability
- Excellent communication skills to align engineering, product, field, security, and management
- Fluent English language skills, written and spoken (project language)
Desirable Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps/DataOps principles
- Knowledge of cloud governance and security frameworks
- Experience in moderating architecture councils or similar committees
- Familiarity with elevator or building management systems is an advantage
