  • Participate in the due diligence activities to accurately identify and document existing systems to be migrated to two new datacentres. Servers, Databases, networks, firewalls, application-services and all interconnected systems.
  • VM deployments and basic OS configuration including monitoring and backup integration.

Migration / Automation Engineer Oracle 18c - 19c Database Migration

  • I rejoined Amadeus to work on their 18c to 19c Migration project.
  • Migrations of RED and BTPRD databases to new 19c clusters.
  • Enhanced their ansible automation to support the VCS cluster environments.
  • Added PHY and PHR physical standby databases to the production data guard setup to support weekly refreshes of the RED and BTPRD databases. In all 400+ databases and application traffic were migrated.
  • Decommissioning of the old environments.
  • Exposed to their Azure environment for hosting data guard observers and some performance monitoring components deployed using ansible in the open shift environments.

Oracle Database and Automation Engineer

Tasks:
  • I joined the DBA team to help patch and migrate some 100+ oracle test databases from 11g & 12c to 19c in preparation for the production migrations planned for the following year.
  • I provided a smooth and coordinated approach to the migration activities.
  • Once migrated the databases were hardened to the latest security standard. We used ansible during the migrations to streamline the target oracle installation and patching mechanisms.
  • I migrated many of their legacy automation and monitoring scripts to ansible.

Ansible Automation Engineer Ansible / Oracle Automation / Migration

Amadeus Data Processing GmbH
Tasks: 
  • My team and I were contracted to support and enhance their Ansible Tower (AWX) automation platform initiative.
  • Re-factoring several playbooks to create individual component playbooks to support new workflow features of the more recent version of AWX.
  • Successful proof of concept using AWX 4 and AWX 9 was built and accepted. Integration of an ARA playbook recording server for workflows.
  • Custom ansible modules, callback and lookup plugins were developed to interface with their VMware virtualisation orchestration tool, Synagon.
  • Following the corona virus impact and a subsequent cancellation of all external vendor contracts I was lucky enough to move to the Oracle Team, where I helped with their cost-saving initiative of migrating their disaster recovery data-center from Munich to Frankfurt. 100+ oracle databases were migrated from 11g to 18c, and from Munich to both Erding and Frankfurt. I was chosen for my extensive knowledge and experience of Amadeus’s production and operational processes.

Consultant

Deutsche Bank
  • Responsible for the daily administration of their Tradefinder platform.
  • Migrate their tool set from Java/Matlab/Perforce to Python/Matlab/Git and built a robust deployment mechanism in ansible & python & Jenkins. CI/CD pipelines
  • I took the lead on their technology refresh, migrating the application landscape from a Primary/Secondary with 16 compute blades, to a dual cluster concept using IBMs GPFS.
  • Following the POC I was responsible for preparing the RFS for the new servers.
  • Built and trained a remote global support team to provide a 24x5 follow the sun coverage. The team was in the USA, UK and INDIA.
