A core component of the microPREP™ PRO, the Axis System is essentially a 2-axis robot providing a precise mounting for the machine’s array of sample fixtures, precise alignment of the fixtures to the machine’s camera for setup and inspection of the micromachining process, auto-focusing, precise alignment of the fixtures to the machine’s laser scanner and a parking position for mounting / dismounting the fixtures. The Axis System in the microPREP™ PRO is substantially improved over that in the microPREP™ in terms of accuracy, positioning range, thermal-drift stability and load-capacity for the heavier 2nd-generation fixtures.
