Job Description:

Primary Skill: WebSphere

Secondary Skill: Any one Unix flavor (AIX, Solaris, HPUX), Windows, Java & MQ/MB

Expertise in WebSphere Administration

  • Deploying applications (WAR, JAR, and EAR) in standalone and network deployment environments of WebSphere.
  • Good knowledge on silent and GUI types of installation and configuration of WebSphere Application Server
  • Network deployment of single and multiple nodes.
  • Experience in upgrading fix packs through APAR file.
  • Managing SSL certificates using cell default trust store and key store
  • Troubleshooting issues, solving various problems with both AppServer and Web Server
  • Worked on IBM HTTP Server including IBM WebSphere with Clustered Environment
  • Creating JDBC data source connections, identifying connection pools along with database configuration.
  • Solid experience in deploying the applications on multiple WebSphere Servers and maintaining load balancing and fail over functionality.
  • J2EE skills a plus
  • Should be strong in ITIL process
  • Provide 24/7 on call support for production environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Configuration & Troubleshooting of Virtualization & Cluster activities
  • Expertise in installing, configuring, migrating, upgrading, performance tuning, troubleshooting, security, failover and work load management of WebSphere on various platforms AIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows2000, Windows2008 and setting up the development, testing and production environments
  • Additional knowledge in other domains such as Storage, Backup, Database and network
  • Process & Tools

  • Understanding & adherence to ITIL processes
  • Exposure in ITSM Ticketing and Monitoring tools
  • Capacity management tools
  • Role & Responsibilities

  • Create and Maintain technical documentation
  • First point of escalation for all technical and process issues.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise wherever required
  • Ensure proper communication and quick resolution as a crisis manager.
  • Timely escalation to management
  • Plan and schedule Changes coordinating with different stakeholders.
  • Perform Service Requests based on Standard Operating Procedures
  • Service incidents and queries within the agreed service levels
  • Perform RCA for Major Incidents related to his/her tower
  • Follow quality/security process defined for the engagement
  • Perform Trend analysis, identify top few incidents and work with respective teams/individual to minimize the incidents
  • Hardware troubleshooting & Vendor coordination
  • OS hardening and patching based on security recommendations
  • Software management
  • Provide input for Weekly and monthly status reports
  • Participate in business meetings with various stake holders on a need basis
  • Take corrective actions based on the customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Work on the service improvement programs.
  • Effort estimation/reviews on need basis for new projects.
  • Training of new team members.
  • Work with project teams for activities such as new server build, OS upgrades, migrations etc
