*Job Title: DevOps Engineer
*Contract Length: 3 months
*Rate: £500 per day, inside IR35
*Location: Remote

*Start date: ASAP
We are looking for an experienced systems administrator to join a small team of research software engineers working on projects to support academic research. They will work alongside and cover for the in-post systems administrator.
Responsibilities:
*Work closely with the software engineers to design and implement solutions that provide the build, test, deployment and delivery requirements of the software solutions developed within the team.
*Work closely with the internal networking and infrastructure teams to ensure that platforms work reliably and efficiently, considering the constraints of the environment within which it operates.
*Write documentation and provide guidance to members of the team and to clients
*Working directly with academic staff to develop infrastructure to support research
*Support and monitor platforms and applications to maximise availability
*Maintain and improve platforms and applications so that they use the latest versions of the tools and technologies
*Maintain security
Skills:
*You are an experienced systems administrator or DevOps engineer
*You are able to work with a high level of autonomy
*You have a range of skills and are willing to work with a broad range of technology
*You are flexible and able to easily pick up new technologies
*You understand the importance of security and how to maintain secure systems
You have experience using the following technologies:
*CentOS, Ubuntu, Apache, NGINX, MySQL, SSL certificates
*Networking at the level of DNS, subnetting, Firewalls, load balancers
*Puppet
*Monitoring and metrics
*Containers - Docker and Kubernetes
*Scripting - preferably Bash and Python
*Familiarity with development best practices and to a lesser extent, continuous integration and deployment
*Use of Git and best practice around feature branches, merge requests and tagging
*AWS/Azure
