  The examination of boilers; pressure vessels; pipes; and fabricated steel components
  for steel construction was carried out in Germany and Poland.

  Metallographic Examination Laboratory Manager

  Examining and interpreting creep defects on steam turbine components and making
  recommendations for lifetime extension measures in this regard.

  Duties were carried out in the laboratory and in the field.
  Manufacturing support in quality matters for nuclear power plant components
  (cladding of pressure vessels and pipes).
  Note: From 1986 to 1990, while working, I studied Material Science at the Berlin
            Technical University. During the last two semesters in 1989/1990, my working
            hours were reduced to 25/week.

Manufacturing management
  1. Promoted to Department Head, responsible for re-organizing and converting the department into a business unit.

The business unit is responsible for manufacturing; quality; maintenance; purchasing; planning; and financial controlling.

The unit was responsible for all the manufacturing of welded components for gas turbines.



 
  1. The business unit’s area of responsibility was expanded to include all the responsibility for casing manufacturing.
Manufacturing optimization

This expanded responsibility includes the welding operations and machining.
The business unit (responsible for castings and welded components) comprised 480 employees and had a budget of €120m.

I successfully implemented company improvement programme objectives and a cost reduction of 50% , as well as other major tasks:

    - Starting the manufacturing of components of Westinghouse design in Berlin
    - Respsonsibility for all diaphragm manufacturing in Berlin und Hamilton
       (total experience abroad: 1 year)
    - Personnel reduction programme following dramatic slump in orders after
      11 September 2001


2002    Department re-organization: internal machining and casting responsibilities were
            transferred to other units.

The restructured business unit employs 250 and has a €90m budget.
