Feb 2011 - Present:       Owner of Klostermann Automotive Safety Engineering Services (KASES).
Since February 2011 working as an independent consultant for KASES. For more information see www.kases.nl. Since 2011 KASES has assisted several automotive companies with safety engineering support:

Punch Powertrain NV, Sint-Truiden (April 2017 - Present):
  • Functional safety management support at the organizational level.
  • Functional safety management in multiple ASIL C projects (transmission system development, including transmission control unit). 
VB Airsuspension BV, Varsseveld (January-April 2017):
  • Functional safety management in a safety element out of context development of a suspension system (ASIL C); this involved a safety plan, Item Definition, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Definition of Safety Goals, Definition of Functional and Technical Safety Requirements, System Design Specification.
Leopold Kostal in Lüdenscheid (March 2012 – March 2017):
  • Functional safety management support at the organizational level.
  • Functional safety management in 4 projects for VW, Audi and Porsche; this involves the development of steering column switching modules (direction indicator, windscreen wiper, cruise control, etc.) and a steering angle sensor, with top level technical safety requirements up to ASIL D.
  • Functional safety management in a project for BMW; this involves the development of a Gear Shift Selector Switch (shift-by wire), with top level technical safety requirements up to ASIL B.
  • Improvement of existing methods (requirements management, safety plan, FMEDA, tool qualification, management of evidence for the safety case, etc.).

E-Traction (August 2012 – April 2015):
  • Training and coaching of the required skills; this involved a system FMEA of an electric wheel motor.
  • ISO 26262 training en workshop for Management and Engineers.
  • Functional safety management support in a pilot project; this concerns a “safety element out of context development” of an electric driveline for heavy duty vehicles with electric wheel motors and safety goals up to ASIL C.
 
Leopold Kostal in Dortmund (July 2014 – January 2015):
  • Functional safety management support at the organizational level.
  • Functional safety management in a project for Audi, Porsche and VW; this involves the development of a door control module with top level technical safety requirements up to ASIL B.
 
VB-Airsuspension B.V (November 2013)
  • ISO 26262 training en workshop for Management and Engineers.
 
Logena Automotive (May 2012):
  • Compliance to ISO 26262 in the acquisition phase: this involved the development of software for a controller for power operated doors (ASIL C).
  • Definition of the functional safety concept.
 
Feb 2011 – Dec 2011:   Senior Consultant at Automotive Technology Centre (ATC)
For 8-12 hours per week hired as a consultant by ATC, a cluster organization for the Dutch Automotive Industry.  Responsibilities:
  1. Stimulate national and international cooperation.
  2. Stimulate the exchange of knowledge and technology.
  3. Initiation of innovation projects with industrial clusters.
These responsibilities were achieved through networking, workshops, publications and participation in international trade missions. With this activity the network of KASES in the automotive industry was significantly increased.
 
Feb 2011 - May 2011:    Program Manager for High Tech Automotive Systems (HTAS)
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  1. Initiate innovation projects in the automotive industry.
  2. Investigation of technology trends.
  3. Program management of ongoing innovation and pilot projects.
The contract with HTAS was terminated in May 2011 because the government subsidy for this innovation program was stopped. In 2012 HTAS and ATC integrated into AutomotiveNL.
 
May 2010 – Jan 2011:      Diagnostics Innovation Engineer at DAF Trucks
For more information see www.daf.com. Responsible for the requirements specification of future generations of diagnosis systems, which will be used for service and repair of all trucks and engines produced by DAF Trucks, but also for end-of-line programming and testing at all PACCAR production plants worldwide and for vehicle integration testing during the development of trucks.
 
Jan 2010 – March 2010:  Team Leader Vehicle Integration, RWTH Aachen University.
For more info see www.rwth-aachen.de. As a team leader for the “vehicle integration” work package involved with the pilot project “RWTH Aachen StreetScooter” for three months. During the project initiation phase I assisted the project manager with the following activities:
  • Planning the project, stages and work packages.
  • Writing a project quality plan.
  • Writing the homologation plan.
 
Feb 2006 – Dec 2009:     Technical Project Manager at Advanced Public Transport Systems (APTS)
As a technical project manager involved with the development of vehicles with an autonomous steering system (SIL 4), automatic safety braking (SIL 4), hybrid electric power train (SIL 3) and power operated doors (SIL 2). The system had to be approved according EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129. During this project I had the following tasks and responsibilities:
  • Leading an international team of 10-15 engineers.
  • Project planning and monitoring project progress.
  • Responsible for the development of hardware and software for an Advanced Driver Assistance Steering System (SIL 4) and several other safety relevant systems.
  • Requirements specification (including safety requirements).
  • Defining safety concepts in collaboration with the design team.
  • Hazard and safety analysis.
 
Feb 2001 – Jan 2006:       Technical Project Manager for PDE Automotive
Leading an international team of 5-15 engineers with the development of a new generation of guided vehicles for public transport. Responsible for testing, homologation and type certification. Acquisition of government subsidies for additional project budgets.
 
Aug 1995 – Jan 2001:       Senior Project Engineer for Netherlands Car BV
Market research on public transport rolling stock and bus rapid transit. Conceptual design of new type bus rapid transit (guided articulated bus). Foundation of a new company: Advanced Public Transport Systems BV. Writing a winning bid for a tender for a project of 40 million Euros.
 
1993 - 1994:                      Master Thesis at Delft University of Technology (Aerospace Technology).

  • Research project concluding the master’s course in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Development of software (in FORTRAN) for the simulation of the natural laminar airflow, using computational fluid dynamics.
 
1992 - 1993:                     Freelance Design Engineer
Designer for EXTRA Flugzeugbau GmbH, Germany, www.extraaircraft.com
  • Design of low drag, fast-flying, pressurized single-engine airplane, the EXRA-400 (still on the market, upgraded with turboprop and renamed EXTRA-500).
  • Aerodynamic design of Flaps (excellent performance shown in wind tunnel).
  • Integration of the propulsion system into the composite body.
  • 3D modeling of the EXTRA-400 (published in Jane's All The World Aircraft).
  • 3D modeling for the positive mould of composite fuselage.
 
1992:                            Freelance Structural Design Engineer for Geosens BV
  • Design of multi purpose frame for mounting instruments in a Cessna Citation.
  • Structural design, strength analysis, drawings and process instructions.
  • Technical advice on modifications to the aircraft.
 
1992:                            Freelance Technical Consultant for Xycarb BV
Design of software for calculation of thermal stresses in thin graphite sheets with a coating of silicon carbide. This software has been used for years by Xycarb.

Design of a concept for downwards deflecting of spray materials under a crop dusting helicopter, to prevent uncontrolled spreads of the chemicals by the rotor vortex.  One of the concepts was successfully tested and is now being applied.

Ich Arbeite vorzugsweise in die Niederlande, Belgien und in Deutschland in der Postleitzahlen-Regionen 4 und 5.
Ich arbeite normalerweise innerhalb ein kreis von ±300 km von meine Home Office (Helmond, Die Niederlande).
Wenn Sie Projekte in diese Regionen haben bin ich sehr interessiert.

Montag ist normalerweise meine Pappa-Tag. Ich habe 2 Kinder, 2 und 4 Jahre Alt.
In 4 Tage (Dienstag bis Freitag) arbeite ich im durschnitt 36-40 Stunden, meistens vor Ort bei der Kunde.

Ich bin fur neue Projekte verfugbar ab Januar 2018
