Beschreibung

Tasks:

Implementation of new features according to Change Requests
Upgrade of the software to new releases of Operating System and WS platform as well as of tools used
Porting of LCC and applications to new LCU motherboards and resolution of associated problems
Development of drivers for new VME boards
Development and extension of automatic regression and integration tests
Updates and extensions of the Common software documentation
Maintenance of ISS to support Paranal Science Operations current instruments AMBER and PIONIER.
Maintenance of ISS to support GRAVITY and GRA4MAT instrument commissioning and standard operations
Development of extensions for the integration and commissioning of CIAO, the GRAVITY Active Optics system and for NAOMI
Development of extensions for the integration and commissioning of MATISSE instrument.
Development of extensions and maintenance for integration test code simulating instruments and exercising all VLTI sub-systems available on VLTI Control Model.
Restructuring of the software due to the removal of old systems

necessary knowledge:

University degree in computer science, physics or equivalent.
A good command of spoken and written English is essential.
Minimum eight years experience in development, integration and testing of complex software applications running on UNIX platforms, preferably Linux, and sound knowledge of programming languages (C++, C, Java) and Scripting languages (UNIX Shell, Tcl/Tk).
Minimum five years experience in development, integration and testing of complex distributed Real Time applications and drivers running on the VxWorks Real Time operating system.Certified attendance of official WindRiver Software and Drivers development training courses would definitively be an advantage.
Minimum five years experience with software engineering standards and tools (version control, problem reporting systems, software build), preferably SVN, JIRA and Jenkins
Familiarity with opto-mechanical or equivalent control systems

nice to have:

Capabilities to properly plan, set, and adjust priorities
Identify key issues, examine options and propose solutions
Capability to provide short periods of support on site on short notice to solve urgent problems reported by the customer.
Preparedness and physical fitness to travel to Paranal Chile (~2600m) for short missions if required.
Familiarity with Astronomy environment will be considered an advantage
Familiarity with interferometry will be considered as an advantage
Familiarity with telescope control will be considered as an advantage
Preliminary experience with development and maintenance of CCS, LCC, INS code using the customers' development environment (cmm/SVN, tat, Jenkins) will be a serious advantage.

This project is for 2,5 Consultants that means 2 fulltime, 1 part time

There is a learning phase beginning 1.07.2017 for 6 months in Garching.
After this learning phase ( about clients code lines ) you work in your Home-Office.
Up to 5 times a year, you should be in Garching for meetings, implementations and so on!
