NextLink Solutions are sourcing a key individual in the guise of a Firmware & Modeling Lead for critical projects based in Germany.
Coming from and primarily working in product development, design, sustaining, or R&D the key individual will be actively engaged in design and development of Embedded software using model based design with Matlab/Simulink and required toolboxes. This software may be stand alone or part of a larger system.
Essential qualifications/requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years' experience or a Master's Degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering with 3+ years' experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in model based design of algorithmic functions
- Demonstrated proficiency in Embedded Software development.
- Sufficient skills and experience using Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/Embedded Coder/Simscape
- Sufficient skills and experience in firmware design and development using C/C++ .
- Sufficient skills and experience with LabView based HIL systems
- Sufficient skills and experience in requirements engineering and systems engineering
- Experience in modelling and simulation of physical systems
- Experience in writing or performing unit tests, system tests, integration tests using model-in-the-loop (MIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups
- Digital Signal Processing.
- Experience in debugging PCBA's, analog and digital circuits.
- Use of Emulators/Simulators/Debuggers.
- Good technical and problem solving skills with a drive for results.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis - hardware, software, firmware or system issues.

Read on as the preferred qualifications/requirements are:
- DSP/Microcontroller/Microprocessor experience
- Real Time Operating system experience.
- Experience with Communication protocols - Ethernet, SPI, RS485, SPORTs, RS232, CAN bus.
- Experience with modelling standards and processes, eg MAAB guidelines, ISO26262
- Experience with firmware product life cycle, documentation and release process
- Familiarity with the oil and gas industry with a focus on tools used in drilling services.
- Experience with LabView and VeriStand
- Experience with automated system testing
