Drone Software Engineer for vision based navigation (m/w) - temporary 2 years contract Job Description Perceptual Computing (PerC) is an organization within Intel tasked with the research, development, and productization of technologies for Natural User Interaction, encompassing both human to machine and human to human experiences. PerC aims to build technologies that would help users to have natural, immersive and intuitive interaction with computers through not only touch interface but also through hand gestures, voice and video. The objective of PerC is to explore consumer focused hardware and software applications of close range hand and finger gestures, speech recognition, face recognition and tracking, augmented reality and more. This role is located in Munich - Krailling and will be supporting Intel's drone business, which has been expanded following Intel's acquisition of Ascending Technologies. Ascending Technologies is the core part of the drone business unit at Intel and develops and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). Our UAS technology is used in drones for professional and research applications, consumer drones and novel innovative aircraft. The Ascending Technologies team provides unique UAS expertise and achieves pioneer work in sensor data processing and flight control, UAV design and market development to set trends with leading aircraft solutions. Ascending Technologies is looking for passionate employees to proactively support the development of next generation platforms. What We Expect From You Development and further improvement of existing algorithms for localization, mapping, planning and data fusion cameras, depth cameras (Intel RealSense) and IMU are used as main sensors. Implementation, Integration and testing of the above mentioned algorithms on embedded hardware onboard UAVs for prototypes and tech demonstrators Applying the knowledge and systems from prototypes towards products. Implementation, integration and testing of software interfaces on different levels, as well as (low level) Drivers. General testing, debugging, handling and understanding complex systems, and most importantly: leave lab conditions and "make things work reliably in challenging real life scenarios". Qualifications Very good c++ skills Experience with build systems and handling large software projects Knowledge in computer vision and image processing Background / experience with robotics and one or more of the items below Localization Mapping Planning Data fusion and filtering, knowledge in handling uncertain measurements Solid knowledge of Linux, embedded Linux (yocto) is a plus ROS (Robot Operating System) is a plus Fluent English written and oral Basic German skills are a plus What We Offer At Intel, you come to work in a collaborative, supportive environment, where your amazing colleagues will use your skills to the fullest.
