Prototyp | IT-Lexikon für Selbständige und Freiberufler
Der Prototyp bezeichnet in der Technik das erste Exemplar einer späteren Serienfertigung. Grundsätzlich werden Tests am Prototyp durchgeführt, um etwaige Schwächen oder Fehler zu beheben, bevor eine größere Stückzahl produziert wird. Somit kann die Qualitätssicherung bereits in einer frühen Phase des Produktlebenszyklus durchgeführt werden. Prototypen kommen sowohl in der Hardware-, als auch in der Softwareentwicklung zum Einsatz.
